Bihar: Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha Advocates for Inclusion of Magahi Language in Constitution
Gaya: Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha attended the two-day Magahi Lok Utsav in Gaya, where he emphasized the need for the inclusion of the Magahi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Sinha expressed the government’s commitment to promoting Magahi’s rich heritage, urging people to actively use the language in their daily lives to boost its pride and recognition.
During the event, the Deputy CM announced plans for the construction of a modern cultural hall in Gaya to showcase cultural programs. “I have directed the District Magistrate to identify a suitable location for this facility,” Sinha stated, highlighting the need for preserving and promoting Magahi culture.
Sinha watched various performances of Magahi songs and dances with keen interest and visited a photo exhibition showcasing Magahi’s cultural history. He emphasized the importance of remembering cultural heritage, saying, “Those who forget their heritage, time also forgets them.” He called on all districts connected with the Magahi language and dialect to work towards preserving and advancing its cultural legacy.
Appealing to the youth, Sinha said, “We must strive to raise a new generation of thinkers like Chanakya and Chandra Gupta, and this effort must begin in Magadha. Only then can the region reclaim its status as the Vishwa Guru.”
The event, organized by Sanskar Bharti and the Department of Art and Culture, witnessed participation from writers, artists, theatre performers, and folk singers from various districts. Local BJP leaders from Gaya also attended the occasion, showing their support for the cultural revival of the region.
