Patna: The Bihar government has expanded eligibility for free prosthetic limbs and assistive devices under its Chief Minister’s Divyangjan Empowerment Scheme, reducing the minimum disability requirement from 44% to 40%.
Under the revised guidelines, residents aged five years and above with a certified disability of 40% or more will now be eligible for free assistive equipment, provided their annual household income does not exceed Rs. 2 lakh. Officials said the change aims to ensure wider inclusion and improve access to mobility and support aids for people with disabilities.

Applications can currently be submitted offline at block offices, Buniyad centres or district disability empowerment offices. State officials said an online application portal is expected to be launched soon to simplify the process.
