Bhojpur: A chilling double murder has shaken Bhojpur district after a sweet shop owner and his son were found shot dead in Belghat village under Mufassil police station on Friday morning. The victims have been identified as Pramod Kushwaha and his son Priyanshu Kushwaha, residents of Kasap village in the Udvantnagar area.
According to police sources, the bodies were discovered near a deserted stretch of road, with visible gunshot wounds. An empty cartridge and the victims’ motorcycle were recovered from the scene. Police suspect that the two were murdered elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the area to erase traces of the crime.
Local residents said the victims ran Maurya Sweets, a popular shop in Piyanian Bazaar, and were known for their cordial relations within the community. Pramod Kushwaha was also a local worker of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha Party, adding a potential political angle to the investigation.
Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar reached the scene with a police team and began inquiries. “The motive is not yet clear, but multiple angles — including business rivalry and personal enmity — are being explored,” Kumar told reporters.
