Patna: A 10-day training programme on earthquake-resistant construction was launched in Patna on Tuesday, aimed at equipping local masons with skills to build safer, disaster-resilient infrastructure across Bihar.
The initiative, held at Astrik Computers’ Industrial Training Centre in Pratiksha Bhawan, Ashokpuri Road, has been organised by Astrik Computers India Private Limited in collaboration with the state’s Disaster Management Department and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Speaking at the launch, Astrik’s founder, Prabhat Kumar Sinha, said the workshop marked “a significant step towards building technical capacity” and would serve as “a milestone in making Bihar’s construction sector safe, sustainable, and employable”.
Participants will receive government-backed certificates, toolkits and induction kits, along with an incentive of Rs 7,000 upon completing the programme. Trainers include Priyanshu Ranjan Upadhyay, Ankit Kumar, Saurabh Kumar and Deepu Kumar, under the supervision of project head Ajay Kumar Singh.

The programme forms part of a broader push to develop a disaster-ready workforce in Bihar, which is among India’s most earthquake-prone states. Astrik Computers said its goal was to “engage, empower and employ” by preparing masons to meet both local construction needs and future demand in resilient infrastructure.
