Motihari/Patna: Police in Bihar’s East Champaran district have recovered a loaded pistol during a raid at a madrasa in the Chakia area, detaining three individuals and sealing the premises as part of an ongoing investigation.
The operation was carried out by a special team acting on specific intelligence inputs, officials said. The raid took place in Gavandra village under Chakia police station limits.
According to police, the search was conducted under the supervision of senior officers following information about illegal arms allegedly being stored at the site. During the search of a room within the madrasa, officers recovered a loaded firearm, prompting immediate detentions.
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat said the three suspects are being questioned to determine the source of the weapon and whether there are wider links to organised networks.
The madrasa has been sealed as a precautionary measure while investigations continue. Police have not confirmed any immediate threat but said all angles, including possible links to banned organisations such as the Popular Front of India (PFI), are being examined.
Officials noted that the site had previously come under scrutiny in connection with earlier arrests linked to alleged extremist activities, though details are still being verified.
Additional police teams have been deployed in the area, and raids are underway at other locations based on leads obtained during questioning.
Authorities said security has been tightened across the region as investigations continue.
