Patna: The Election Commission has issued a notice to Bihar’s deputy chief minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, over allegations that his name appears in the electoral roll for two separate constituencies.
The Bankipur returning officer sent the notice on behalf of the Patna Sadar electoral registration officer, asking Sinha to explain why his name features in the draft electoral list for both the 182-Bankipur assembly constituency and the 168-Lakhisarai constituency.
According to the notice, Sinha’s name appears at polling station No 405, serial No 757 in the Bankipur constituency, with EPIC number AFS0853341. His name is also listed in the Lakhisarai constituency with EPIC number IAF3939337. The commission noted that the duplication was present even before the current Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the 2025 electoral rolls.
Sinha has been asked to respond by 5pm on August 14, after which further action may be taken. The issue was flagged during the ongoing revision exercise aimed at updating and verifying voter lists across the state.
