Patna: Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari wrote to around 5.8 lakh teachers across the state on Teachers’ Day, recognising their contribution to education and their role in shaping the future of students and society.

In his three-page letter, Tiwari highlighted the responsibilities of teachers in building students’ personalities and developing values alongside academic learning.

The minister said teachers play an important role not only in educating children but also in shaping their character, values and future.

Focus On Quality Education And Values

Tiwari urged teachers to provide students with quality education while helping them develop good values, discipline, sensitivity and a sense of responsibility.

He said the future of Bihar is closely linked to the schools functioning across the state and the children studying in them.

According to the minister, teachers have an important responsibility in helping build a better future for the state by guiding students both academically and personally.

Teachers Express Commitment

Teachers welcomed the minister’s initiative and expressed their appreciation for the letter, according to the report.

They said they would continue working with dedication and commitment to improve the state’s education system.

The communication came as Bihar marked Teachers’ Day, observed annually on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President and educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Congratulations To National Award Recipients

Tiwari also congratulated two women teachers from Gopalganj and Banka who received the National Teachers’ Award 2026.

The recognition was highlighted as an achievement for the teachers as well as the state’s education sector.

The minister’s message placed the role of teachers within the wider objective of improving learning outcomes and developing students into responsible members of society.
