Patna: The disappearance of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Akhilesh Kumar from the Danapur constituency on Friday, the final day for filing nominations for the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, has sparked concern across political circles.
Akhilesh Kumar, a former BJP Mandal president and a young Vaishya leader, reportedly went to offer prayers at the Mahavir Temple in Rajvanshi Nagar around 10.30am with a few associates. According to party sources, he has been missing since then.
By early afternoon, tension mounted among supporters gathered at a community hall in the Takiyapar area of Danapur, where hundreds had assembled to accompany Kumar to file his nomination. When he failed to arrive by 1.30pm and his phone became unreachable, panic spread among party workers.
The local Jan Suraaj Party team later circulated a message on WhatsApp confirming his disappearance and suggesting a possible abduction. The message stated that Kumar was scheduled to head directly to the nomination venue after the temple visit but lost contact soon after leaving.
The incident has drawn widespread attention ahead of the elections, with several political leaders expressing concern over the growing tensions. Police have begun an investigation and initiated search operations, while local authorities have been alerted.
