Saran: The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 has taken an interesting turn with a candidate named Lalu Prasad Yadav filing his nomination papers from the Madhaura constituency in Saran district. However, this Lalu Prasad Yadav is not the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief but an independent contender who has made a habit of contesting elections at every level — from corporator to presidential polls.
According to local reports, independent candidate Lalu Prasad Yadav submitted his nomination papers on the first day of the filing process for the initial phase of the election. Known for his persistence, the Madhaura-based candidate has contested several elections but has yet to secure a victory. Locals often refer to him as “Dharti Pakad,” a term used for perennial candidates who never give up.
The RJD’s sitting MLA, Jitendra Kumar Rai, who has already won three consecutive terms from Madhaura, will face this namesake challenger once again. Speaking to reporters, the independent Lalu Prasad Yadav claimed that the sitting MLA had failed to deliver on promises of development.
“Until I become a people’s representative, I will continue to contest elections. I believe this time, the people of Madhaura will bless me with victory,” said Lalu Prasad Yadav.
A resident of Jadopur village, Lalu Prasad Yadav works as an assistant to a lawyer in Madhaura Sub-Divisional Court. Despite limited resources, his passion for public life and constitutional office keeps him returning to the fray every election season.
Elsewhere, nominations were also filed from other constituencies. In Muzaffarpur’s Kanti seat, Birendra Kumar of the Rashtriya Jan Sambhavana Party submitted his papers to challenge RJD MLA Israel Mansoori, declaring assets worth over Rs. 1 crore. Meanwhile, Manish Kumar Singh filed his nomination as an independent from Paroo but has yet to submit his affidavit.
