Motihari: As Bihar gears up for the 2025 assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced Pramod Kumar as its candidate for the Motihari seat. The announcement came during an NDA workers’ conference, where senior leaders called on the electorate to support Kumar and help the alliance retain its influence in the region.
Addressing party workers, Health Minister Mangal Pandey emphasised that opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, were attempting to mislead voters with false allegations. He urged people to trust the NDA’s development agenda, stating that making Pramod Kumar victorious in Motihari was crucial for the alliance.
Pramod Kumar, 63, has represented Motihari since 2005 and belongs to the Kanu (Halwai) community. During his tenure, he has focused on public welfare initiatives and has highlighted his work for ordinary citizens. He also criticised the previous RJD government led by Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi for mismanagement during their rule. In the 2020 elections, Kumar defeated RJD candidate Rama Devi by 34,567 votes.
The NDA is yet to finalise its seat-sharing arrangement for the elections. Sources indicate that BJP and JDU may contest 101-102 seats together, while smaller alliance partners could receive 10-20 seats each. Negotiations are ongoing, with some leaders demanding a larger share of seats.
