Patna: The Congress party on Saturday launched a fresh attack on Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, accusing him of falsifying his age in electoral affidavits and manipulating official records to escape legal scrutiny.
At a press conference in Patna, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate alleged that Choudhary “either increases or decreases his age based on convenience,” claiming the BJP leader has a history of inconsistent personal disclosures. “Earlier, there were questions around his degree, and now it’s about his age — and he has lied this time,” Shrinate said.

The Congress also accused Choudhary of misrepresenting his age to evade a 1995 murder case trial, alleging that he had declared himself as 15 years old at the time to secure bail. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the party claimed that Choudhary’s affidavit from 2010 listed him as 28 years old, which would make his current age 43, not 56 as mentioned in his recent documents.
Shrinate questioned why the Election Commission of India had not acted against the Deputy Chief Minister despite these inconsistencies. “Why has his nomination not been cancelled? The rules seem to bend for those in power,” she said, demanding a probe into Choudhary’s past affidavits and legal records.
The allegations have added fresh tension to an already heated Bihar political landscape, with just days left before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Polling for the 121 constituencies in the first phase is scheduled for November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
