Patna: As Bihar heads into the second phase of assembly elections, NDA ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha launched a sharp attack on opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, alleging that the RJD leader is already making excuses for an impending loss.
“The Grand Alliance’s defeat is certain, and that is why Tejashwi is blaming the Election Commission,” Kushwaha said on Tuesday. “He knows what the results will be on November 14. That’s why he’s saying things were hidden and making excuses in advance to explain the defeat to the public.”
Kushwaha claimed that the public had overwhelmingly supported the NDA in the first phase of polling and that the sentiment remained in its favour as the state prepared for the next round. “The mood across Bihar clearly shows that the slogan ‘Why are you worried? No one is in the race’ fits perfectly for the NDA,” he said. “Wherever we have campaigned, we have received massive support and cooperation from the people.”
His remarks came a day after Tejashwi Prasad Yadav held a press conference accusing the Election Commission of bias and irregularities. The RJD leader alleged that CCTV cameras in strong rooms at several counting centres were malfunctioning, and that 208 police companies had been brought in from BJP-ruled states.
Yadav questioned why no forces were called from non-BJP-ruled states such as Jharkhand, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, or Kerala, and claimed that 68% of police observers were from BJP-governed regions. “This is why the Home Minister is camping here,” he said, accusing the ruling party of using “money power, deceit, and fraud” in the polls.
He also criticised the Election Commission for failing to release detailed voter data even four days after the first phase of polling. “This is a joke in this age of technology,” Yadav said. “The Commission is washing away the BJP’s sins.”
Kushwaha dismissed the allegations as a desperate attempt to deflect from the opposition’s poor performance. “Tejashwi is preparing his excuse before the results. The people of Bihar have already decided to stand with the NDA,” he asserted.
