Patna: Bihar’s Energy Secretary has directed power distribution companies to strengthen maintenance systems and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming summer season, amid concerns over rising demand and frequent outages.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting on the operation and maintenance of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, who also serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited.

Officials were asked to prioritise the maintenance of transformers, feeders and grid substations, and to accelerate hot-line maintenance work to minimise disruptions. Manoj Singh also stressed the need for swift resolution of faults in power lines and strict adherence to standard operating procedures to improve reliability across the network.
Safety was highlighted as a key concern, with the energy secretary directing field staff to mandatorily use standard safety equipment while working on electrical installations. Senior officials, including Mahendra Kumar, managing director of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, and Rahul Kumar, managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, attended the meeting along with other department representatives.
