Patna: Traffic movement in Patna will be restricted on 15 February to accommodate Maha Shivratri processions across the city, with authorities barring regular vehicles from a key stretch of Nehru Path from 3pm onwards.
Officials said vehicular movement will remain suspended between Jagdeo Path route, beneath the Raja Bazar flyover, as multiple religious processions organised by different committees converge towards the Khajpura Shiv Temple. A formal reception of the processions is scheduled at the temple later in the afternoon.
Emergency services, including ambulances and fire tenders, will be allowed to operate through the restricted corridor. City service buses, City Ride buses and CNG buses will continue to run on the flyover between Rukanpura and Chidiya Khana Gate No 1. Vehicles travelling between Rukanpura and the zoo stretch will also be permitted to use the flyover.
Traffic police have issued detailed diversion plans to manage congestion. Vehicles moving from Jagdeo Path towards the airport, Income Tax Golambar and Patna Junction including autos and commercial vehicles will be redirected via South Jagdeo Path Road through Phulwari Jail. Small vehicles heading towards Digha, Rajiv Nagar and AG Colony will be diverted from Pillar No 4 to Ambedkar Path and then routed through Maurya Path and Ashiana-Digha Road.
Motorists travelling east to west from Dumra TOP route will be diverted towards the western gate of Patna airport and continue via Phulwari Jail route to Jagdeo Path. Those heading towards Ashiana-Digha will use the Raja Bazar flyover, take a U-turn near Vijay Nagar under the Rupaspur bridge and proceed through Ambedkar Path.
Authorities have urged residents to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement and peaceful observance of the festival.
