Patna: The new campus of Bihar Engineering University in Mithapur, Patna, is nearing completion, with the Rs 66.92 crore project designed to bring the university’s major administrative and examination functions under one roof.
The campus has been developed by the Building Construction Department on approximately five acres. The main university building is a G+4 structure designed to accommodate offices, evaluation centres, scanning rooms, record rooms and other facilities.
What Will The New University Building Include?
The ground floor will house the offices of the Registrar, Dean, Finance Officer and Controller of Examinations. It will also include an evaluation centre, storeroom, cafeteria, entrance area and restrooms.
The first floor will accommodate the Vice-Chancellor’s office, a conference hall, scanning room and another evaluation centre.
Dedicated Facilities For Examination Work
The second floor will have 11 office rooms, six storerooms, five scanning rooms, an evaluation centre and a conference hall.
The third floor will primarily provide record and storage facilities, with five record rooms and scanning infrastructure.
The fourth floor will include another evaluation centre and two spacious halls.
Guest House And Other Campus Facilities
The university complex will also have a single-storey guest house, caretaker accommodation and a guard room.
The campus has been planned to provide dedicated infrastructure for students, faculty and administrative staff while bringing different university functions into a common location.
Focus On Examination And Administrative Work
Building Construction Department Secretary Pranav Kumar said the new campus would strengthen administrative and examination-related activities at the university.
According to Kumar, locating offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Finance Officer and Controller of Examinations within the same complex is expected to improve coordination and streamline administrative processes.
He also said dedicated evaluation, scanning and record facilities would help make examination-related work more organised and secure.
What The New Campus Could Mean For Engineering Colleges
The university serves an administrative and academic role in Bihar’s engineering education system. The new infrastructure is expected to provide a centralised environment for managing university functions and examination activities.
The project is nearing completion, after which the university’s administrative operations can be consolidated at the new Mithapur campus.
