fake inspector caught in Bhojpur

Bhojpur: The police have arrested a fake sub-inspector near Kohrampur in the Badhara police station area of Bhojpur. Identified as Abhinay Kumar, the imposter had been illicitly extorting money from truck drivers transporting sand while also resorting to blackmailing police officials with threats of disseminating audio and video recordings. The arrest follows numerous complaints lodged against him in recent days.

Acting on clandestine intelligence, police officials conducted a late-night operation resulting in the apprehension of the counterfeit inspector. Upon his arrest, the police recovered incriminating evidence, including a uniform, Rs 1700 in cash, and a vehicle. Abhinay Kumar is currently under custody at the Koilavar police station. DSP Ranjit Kumar Singh provided detailed information about the operation during a press briefing.

Hailing from Mane village under the Ekma police station area of Chhapra (Saran) district, the arrested individual had been operating under the guise of a sub-inspector, exploiting truck drivers and posing a threat to the integrity of the police force. DSP Ranjit Kumar Singh revealed that the fake inspector, accompanied by two accomplices, was apprehended during a raid conducted by the Badhara police station team.

Interrogation revealed the extent of Abhinay Kumar’s deception, with authorities confiscating cash, a Tata Nexon car adorned with police insignia, mobile phones, identification documents, and a full set of police uniforms. Efforts are underway to track down other members of his criminal network, with Abhinay cooperating with investigators by disclosing the identities of his associates.

Operating under the guise of a police inspector for the past five to six months, Abhinay Kumar had wielded significant influence over truck drivers and local police administration in areas spanning Chhapra, Badhara, Koilwar, and Chandi Balu Ghat. His primary modus operandi involved facilitating the passage of sand-laden trucks in exchange for monetary gain, posing a considerable challenge to law enforcement efforts.
