Jehanabad: A peaceful Sunday morning in Bihar’s Jehanabad district turned tragic when a family travelling to Deoghar for Mahashivratri prayers met with a terrible accident. The speeding car they were in lost control and crashed into a roadside tree near the Basbutiya turn on the Chakia–Deoghar main road. The impact was so strong that two people died on the spot, while four others were seriously injured. The entire area was filled with shock and sorrow after the incident.
The accident happened around 8:00 am in the Chandramandi police station area. All six people in the car belonged to the same family from Dhadhor village in the Sikandra block. They were on their way to Deoghar, a major pilgrimage centre, when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. Police believe the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, which caused the car to go off the road and hit a tree.
Those who died were Krishnanandan Singh, 70, and his daughter-in-law, Rinku Devi, 48. The injured were identified as Lalan Kumar Singh, Priya Bharti, Khushboo Bharti, and a 10-year-old boy, Ganesh. Local villagers rushed to the scene and helped pull the injured out of the damaged car. They were taken to Deoghar Sadar Hospital, where doctors are treating them. Their condition is said to be serious but stable.
Police and emergency teams reached the spot quickly and took control of the situation. The damaged car has been seized for investigation, and nearby CCTV cameras are being checked. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. The local administration has promised to provide all possible help to the affected family.
The accident has once again raised concerns about speeding and tired driving, especially on long-distance roads. Villagers and travellers say such accidents are becoming common and that stricter safety measures are needed. This heartbreaking incident is a reminder that a single moment of carelessness can change lives forever.
