Patna: Patna witnessed a frightening incident on Mahashivratri when two young men were shot in broad daylight near Shivaji Chowk in the Ramakrishna Nagar area. The shooting happened in a busy part of the city where people were moving around for the festival. Suddenly, unidentified attackers arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire, spreading panic among local residents and shopkeepers. People ran for cover as the sound of gunshots echoed through the street.
The injured men have been identified as Bittu Kumar and Pintu Kumar. Both are friends and had stopped at a roadside tea stall to have tea and talk. Witnesses said that the attackers came suddenly, fired at them, and then escaped quickly. The two young men were badly hurt and fell to the ground, while the area filled with fear and confusion.
Local people did not waste time and rushed the injured to a nearby private hospital. Doctors there said that both men are now in stable condition, but they are still under medical observation. The incident has deeply worried residents, who say that such open attacks show that criminals are becoming fearless, even during important festivals.
Police from the Ramakrishna Nagar police station reached the spot soon after the firing. Senior officer Ranjan Kumar, Sadar SDPO-2, also arrived and began an investigation. The police have collected evidence from the scene and are checking CCTV footage from nearby shops and streets. According to the police, the attack may be linked to a personal rivalry, but all possible angles are being examined. Authorities have promised that the attackers will be identified and arrested soon, as the city waits for justice and better security.
