Bihar: Female Inspector Attacked, Police Team Taken Hostage While Verifying Liquor Racket

BETTIAH – In the village of Laukariya in the Bairia police station area of West Champaran, a case has come to light involving the confinement and assault of a female police officer and her team. Additionally, the female officer has accused two youths of harassment.

In this case, charges have been filed against 11 individuals, all of whom are currently on the run. The police had gone to verify the activities of old liquor smugglers, including Madan Sahni, Anil Thakur, and Chhavilal Pandit.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning at 11 am. The female officer had gone to Laukariya village to inquire about Nitesh Rao in connection with alleged criminal activities and the verification of old liquor smugglers. Apart from Nitesh, others present were Sonu Kumar, Rituraj Kumar, Jhuna Singh, Mahadev Rao and his wife, Vishwanath Rao and his wife, Ran Rao, Dinesh Rao, and Balister Rao. They surrounded the police team and forcibly confined them in a room intending to cause harm.

Sonu and Rituraj indulged in harassment using inappropriate language towards the female officer. They tore her uniform, and Mahadev’s wife slapped the female officer multiple times. Vishwanath’s wife grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground. Subsequently, all the accused physically assaulted her with sticks, causing injuries, including a fractured skull.

A crackdown is underway to arrest the accused involved in assaulting and obstructing police officers in the line of duty. Charges have been filed for hindering government work and assaulting police officers and personnel.
