Patna: Bihar’s Forest Minister, Dr Sunil Kumar, has laid the foundation stone for an eco-tourism park in Thawe, Gopalganj district, aiming to boost sustainable tourism while preserving the natural environment.
The park, with an estimated budget of Rs 18 crore, is designed to offer both recreational opportunities and environmental awareness for local residents and visitors alike. According to the minister, the project will combine modern facilities with the area’s natural beauty to create a distinctive destination in the state’s tourism landscape.
Planned features include an open-air amphitheatre for cultural performances and awareness events, a park cafeteria, and a children’s play zone with safe and engaging equipment. Bamboo fencing and structures will be used throughout the park, both to enhance aesthetics and ensure visitor safety.
Adventure activities such as ziplining and a monkey bridge are expected to appeal to younger visitors, while cycle sheds and walking paths will encourage nature walks and outdoor exercise. Eco-friendly initiatives, including solar-powered lighting and benches, will underline the park’s commitment to sustainability. Bird-watching facilities will allow enthusiasts to observe rare species in their natural habitats. Basic infrastructure, such as restrooms and a grand entrance gate, will also be part of the development.
Dr Sunil Kumar highlighted that the park’s combination of historical context and modern amenities will provide tourists with a unique experience and contribute to the region’s identity as a hub for environmentally conscious tourism.
