Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an extensive campaign to curb dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, deploying hundreds of teams to carry out fogging and anti-larval spraying across the city.
On the instructions of municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, health and executive officers are monitoring operations on the ground and filing daily reports. Officials said five spraying teams have been stationed in each of the city’s 75 wards, with additional teams in areas reporting waterlogging and high numbers of dengue cases.
The corporation has formed 375 teams, each with two members, who patrol public spaces and visit around 10,000 households every day to spray insecticide. In total, fogging and spraying teams are covering about 18,000 homes daily. Chemicals being used include temephos for larval control and malathion for fogging.

Targeted drives are also being carried out in vulnerable areas such as Boring Road, Rajapur Pul, Musallahpur Ghat, Sipara, Mithapur and Agamkua, with rooftop water tanks, flowerpots and construction sites receiving particular attention.
To support hospitals, the corporation has assigned a 25-member team to conduct regular anti-larval spraying and fogging at facilities including PMCH, NMCH, AIIMS, IGIC, IGIMS, Gardiner and Rajvanshi Nagar. Special fogging operations are also being carried out within a 500-metre radius of confirmed dengue patients’ homes.
According to PMC, 57 fogging vehicles have been deployed citywide, with the highest numbers in Patliputra (13) and New Capital (12) zones.
Residents are being asked to cooperate by ensuring water does not stagnate around their homes. Teams assigned to households maintain logbooks, where residents can record feedback on the spraying. Entries are later verified through spot checks and random phone calls.
Complaints or requests for fogging can be made by calling the toll-free number 155304.
