Patna: In a bid to boost youth employability, the Bihar government, in collaboration with the Tool Room and Training Centre (TRTC), Patna, has announced a free, employment-oriented skill development programme starting October 6. The initiative, run by the Department of Industry and TRTC under India’s Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, aims to provide hands-on training in modern technical skills.
The three-month residential programme will require participants to attend eight hours of classes daily. Accommodation and meals will be provided by the institute, ensuring that students from economically weaker backgrounds can participate without financial strain. A refundable security deposit of Rs 1,000 will be collected from selected candidates.
The training covers employment-focused courses including CNC Lathe, CNC Milling, Tool and Die Making, and AC and Refrigerator Repairing. Eligibility varies by course: candidates must have completed Class 12, ITI, or a Diploma for most technical courses, while the appliance repair course requires Class 12 or ITI in the Electrician trade. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 40 years.
Officials emphasised that the programme is designed to equip young people with practical, industry-relevant skills, opening pathways to employment in private companies, government schemes, startups, and self-employment ventures. The Bihar government has urged the state’s youth to take advantage of the scheme and enhance their career prospects through technical training.
