Patna: Bihar police have launched a state-wide operation targeting the black marketing of LPG cylinders, registering 14 FIRs and seizing 419 cylinders. The crackdown comes amid concerns over artificial shortages created to inflate prices.
The campaign, directed by the Bihar Police Headquarters, led to the identification and arrest of 21 individuals involved in illegal sales. Authorities said further legal proceedings are underway against those apprehended.
The largest haul occurred at Forbesganj Police Station in Araria district, where officers seized 261 cylinders and arrested two suspects. Saharsa district followed with 112 cylinders recovered after an FIR was filed at Nagar Police Station, resulting in one arrest. In Shivhar, six cylinders were seized and two individuals taken into custody.
FIRs have also been registered in Madhepura, Begusarai, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Siwan, and Katihar, with multiple arrests reported. Police headquarters continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further illegal trading of gas cylinders.
