Patna: Kakolat Waterfall, one of Bihar’s most renowned tourist attractions, will reopen to visitors on March 20, authorities have announced. The site, popular for its cascading waters and serene surroundings, had been closed for several months following damage caused by floods last year.
The closure affected not only the natural waterfall and its main pool but also surrounding infrastructure, prompting extensive repair work and upgrades to visitor facilities. In the interim, many tourists continued to gather around the artificial pool created near the site.
Local officials said the reopening comes just ahead of the summer holiday season, a period when the waterfall traditionally attracts large crowds seeking relaxation and recreation. “We expect an influx of visitors during the upcoming festivals, including Chaiti Durga Puja, Ram Navami, and Chhath Puja,” said the site’s caretaker. Security personnel will be stationed to ensure smooth management of the crowds.
The reopening is also expected to provide a boost to local businesses. Hotels and eateries in the surrounding area are preparing to accommodate an anticipated surge of tourists, ensuring convenient lodging and dining options. Visitors are being urged to maintain the site’s cleanliness and respect its natural environment to preserve its appeal for future generations.
