Patna: Prem Singh, a Patna-based businessman widely recognised as Bihar’s ‘Goldman’, has announced that he will stop purchasing new gold and jewellery. Known for wearing several kilograms of gold ornaments and riding a gold-plated Bullet motorcycle, Singh said the decision was taken keeping “national interest” in mind.
Singh has become a familiar public figure in Bihar due to his distinctive appearance. He claims to wear more than five kilograms of gold, including heavy chains, bracelets and rings. His customised Bullet motorcycle, fitted with gold plating, has also attracted attention on social media and television platforms.
Decision Draws Public Attention
Speaking about his decision, Singh said people should be prepared to change their habits when circumstances demand it. He added that national interest should take precedence over personal preferences.
The announcement has triggered mixed reactions online. Some social media users described the move as a patriotic gesture, while others suggested it was another attempt to remain in the public spotlight.
Fame Built Around Gold Collection
Prem Singh, originally from Bihar’s Bhojpur district, is currently involved in business activities in Patna. Over the past few years, videos featuring him and his gold accessories have frequently gone viral across social media platforms and YouTube channels.
He has often stated that his interest in gold began during childhood and gradually became a defining part of his public identity. Singh also said he feels secure wearing large quantities of gold due to what he described as improved law and order conditions in Bihar.
Gold-Plated Bullet Became Viral Attraction
One of Singh’s most widely discussed possessions is his customised Bullet motorcycle with gold plating. In an interview with Prabhat Khabar last year, he said the modification process took several months and cost around Rs 10 lakh.
The motorcycle, along with his jewellery collection, has helped establish Singh as one of the country’s most recognisable “Goldmen”. Public appearances by Singh often attract crowds, with many people stopping to take photographs with him.
