Patna: The Bihar government has taken an important decision to make gas cheaper for people in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Monday that now there will be the same tax rate on CNG and PNG for all companies, including GAIL. Earlier, there was confusion because different companies had to pay different tax rates, which made gas costlier for people.
He explained that earlier, only gas sales up to 50,000 SCMD per day from urban networks had a lower tax. But when companies like GAIL supplied gas through pipelines and crossed state borders, they had to pay a high tax of 20%. Because of this, customers were not getting the full benefit of cheaper gas.
With this new decision, the Bihar government has changed the rules. Now, all city gas companies will pay the same tax rate. This will help them sell CNG and PNG at cheaper rates to homes and small shops. Samrat Choudhary said this will bring relief to urban consumers and small buyers across Bihar.
The government believes that this step will also help in reducing pollution. If more people use CNG and PNG instead of diesel, wood, or coal, the environment will become cleaner. The Deputy Chief Minister said that this is a big step towards protecting nature and giving financial relief to people at the same time.
