Patna: The Bihar government has announced that employees and pensioners across all state departments will receive their October 2025 salaries in advance, effective October 21. The move, approved by the Election Commission, comes ahead of the Chhath and Diwali festivals and the upcoming state assembly elections.
According to a government order issued by the Finance Department, the decision aims to provide timely financial assistance to state employees and pensioners during a period of increased household expenses. Officials stressed that all departments have been instructed to ensure the advance payments are processed without delay, with all technical and administrative arrangements in place.
The Election Commission confirmed that salary advances are permissible as long as they do not confer any political advantage and fully comply with the code of conduct. “No action that could influence the electoral process will be permitted,” a Commission statement said.
In a related administrative move, the Directorate of Secondary Education has directed district officials to upload data on all teachers and non-teaching staff in secondary and higher secondary schools within three days. The information is to be submitted via a Google Sheets link or QR code, with the aim of strengthening the state’s education infrastructure.
Director Sajjan R. stated that the data collection would allow the Education Department to maintain accurate records on staffing, workload, and resource allocation. Experts noted that the initiative could improve transparency and efficiency in the management of school employees.
The Bihar government has a history of ensuring timely salary payments, but officials said the advance disbursement this month was particularly intended to address financial needs during the festive season and in the run-up to the elections.
