Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed the Education Department to prepare a plan to make computer education mandatory in all government schools from next year.
Choudhary issued the direction on Saturday during a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) at Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Ramjichak, Bataganj, Danapur. The meeting focused on foundational learning, including reading, writing and numeracy under the NIPUN theme.
One Instructor For Two To Three Schools
The chief minister said connecting students with modern technology was necessary and directed officials to ensure regular access to computer education.
Officials were asked to work towards providing one computer instructor for every two or three schools so students can receive regular computer lessons.
Choudhary also highlighted the use of online teachers and live classes in model schools at around 700 locations across Bihar as part of efforts to expand access to modern teaching methods.
CM Reviews School Education
During the PTM, Choudhary interacted with students, parents and teachers and sought information about teaching arrangements, student attendance, examination results and available educational facilities.
He said the purpose of PTMs was to improve the quality of education in government schools, ensure teacher availability and full student attendance, and expand facilities according to requirements.
The chief minister also asked parents to share suggestions on improving school facilities, academic arrangements and the curriculum.
Students Advised To Target 90%
Choudhary advised students to attend school regularly, complete their homework and study consistently. He encouraged them to set a target of scoring more than 90%.
He said Classes 7 and 8 were important for building a strong foundation for students’ future careers. He also advised students to avoid unnecessary mobile phone use and use devices for educational purposes when required.
Students And Parents Honoured
The chief minister honoured students who performed well academically and recognised their parents with the ‘Parents of the Month’ award.
He also reviewed the ‘Seva Chitra’ competition organised under the ‘Mere Sapnon Ka Bharat’ campaign. Students displayed artwork on themes including Viksit Bharat 2047, solar energy, metro trains, robots and their vision of India.
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari and Cooperative Minister Ram Kripal Yadav were present at the meeting, along with senior government officials, teachers, students and parents.
