Patna: The Bihar government has announced a major recruitment drive to fill nearly 20,000 constable positions in the state police force, furthering Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s pledge to provide 1.2 million government jobs.
Jitendra Kumar, chairman of the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC), shared details of the recruitment process at a press conference on Tuesday at the state police headquarters, Sardar Patel Bhawan in Patna. The CSBC has also issued an official notification for the recruitment of constables in Bihar Police and Bihar Special Armed Police.
6,717 Posts Reserved for Women
Of the 19,838 available positions, 6,717 have been reserved for female candidates. Additionally, 50% of the vacancies are earmarked for Home Guards of Bihar.
Application Process
The online application process will commence on March 18, 2025. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website of the Central Selection Board of Constable (csbc.bihar.gov.in). The deadline for applications is April 18, 2025. Successful candidates will be offered a monthly salary ranging from Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100.
Category-Wise Reservation
The recruitment drive will follow Bihar’s reservation policy, with the distribution of vacancies as follows:
- General Category: 7,935
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 1,983
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 3,174
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 199
- Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 3,571
- Backward Class (BC), including 53 transgenders: 2,381
- Backward Class Women (BCW): 595
Additionally, 397 positions have been allocated under the horizontal reservation system for dependents of freedom fighters.
