Patna: State Information Technology Minister Nitish Mishra on Wednesday said the state government had approved the establishment of the “Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission” to position Bihar as a leading state in the field of artificial intelligence.
The mission aims to build an advanced AI ecosystem in the state, promote skill development and create a technology environment driven by innovation.
Mishra said the initiative would also focus on ensuring participation from leading national and international institutions and industries working in the AI sector to strengthen Bihar’s presence in emerging technologies.
Rs. 209 crore sanctioned for Aryabhata project
The state cabinet, in its meeting held on 13 May, approved the nomination-based selection of Singapore-based Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and granted administrative approval of Rs. 209 crore for the implementation of the “Aryabhata Drishti” project.
According to the government, the project will support AI-focused education, startup development and international collaboration.
AI certification programme planned
Under the initiative, a five-month advanced AI certification programme will be conducted in collaboration with GFTN, the National University of Singapore Institute of Digital Finance (NUS-AIDF) and the Linux Foundation.
The programme aims to train 7,000 students over five years, including undergraduate and postgraduate students from STEM and non-STEM backgrounds.
Startup support and digital sandbox
The government said GFTN would help establish an AI and quantum-enabled digital sandbox platform called the “Aryabhata Technology Observatory”.
The platform is expected to benefit more than 100 startups by providing AI and machine learning APIs, data pipelines, large language model gateways and cloud-based integrated development environments.
Officials said the observatory would support entrepreneurs, students, researchers and government officials working on solutions to state-specific challenges.
Global outreach planned
The government also said Bihar would be showcased before global investors, technology companies and policymakers through 12 international GFTN platforms, including the Singapore FinTech Festival, Point Zero Forum Zurich, Black Swan Summit, Bangkok Digital Finance Forum and GFTN Forum Japan.
