Patna: Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar has said that the state government will take a strict view of complaints regarding doctors misbehaving with patients in government hospitals, warning that patient interests cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
Addressing a public grievance hearing programme at the Janata Dal (United) state office on Wednesday, Kumar said he may personally inspect hospitals if required to assess healthcare services and ensure accountability.
No compromise on patient welfare
The minister said the government remains committed to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that patients receive respectful and quality treatment at all public health facilities.
He emphasised that any negligence or misconduct affecting patients would be taken seriously by the department.
More trauma centres planned
Kumar announced that Bihar will expand its trauma care network by establishing new trauma centres in accident-prone locations across the state.
He said work is progressing rapidly on nine trauma centre projects currently under development.
To improve emergency response during road accidents, the government will also ensure the availability of ambulances at every toll plaza. The move is aimed at reducing response time and enabling injured persons to be transported quickly to the nearest trauma centre.
PMCH to provide round-the-clock emergency care
The health minister also announced that Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) will now offer 24-hour emergency services for patients suffering from respiratory illnesses.
He said the decision is part of broader efforts to strengthen emergency healthcare infrastructure and improve access to specialised treatment.
Government focusing on quality healthcare
Nishant Kumar said the Bihar government is implementing a range of measures to ensure that residents have access to quality healthcare services around the clock.
Disaster Management Minister Ratnesh Sada also attended the public hearing programme.
Among those present were Legislative Council members Sanjay Kumar Singh, popularly known as Gandhi Ji, Naveen Arya Chandravanshi, and Arvind Kumar Singh, also known as Chhotu Singh.
