Patna: Bihar has launched the ‘Jaanch Evam Upchar – Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ (Screening and Treatment – Healthcare at Your Doorstep) campaign to provide door-to-door health screening services across all 38 districts of the state.
The campaign was launched at the Urja Auditorium in Patna, where Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary flagged off awareness vehicles for all districts.
The special campaign will run for three months, from September 2 to November 30, 2026, and will focus on the early identification of non-communicable diseases, particularly cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Door-To-Door Screening Across Bihar
Under the campaign, ANMs and ASHA workers will visit households to conduct health surveys and screenings.
People found to have symptoms or risk factors for serious illnesses will be referred to the appropriate health centre or higher medical institution for further examination and treatment.
The initiative aims to reach people who may face difficulties accessing hospitals or health centres because of distance, lack of awareness or other barriers.
Focus On Cancer, Diabetes And High Blood Pressure
The campaign will prioritise the screening of several non-communicable diseases.
Special attention will be given to the early detection of oral cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer. Health workers will also screen people for diabetes and high blood pressure.
According to the campaign plan, people identified as requiring further medical attention will receive appropriate guidance and, where necessary, be referred for additional tests and treatment.
Awareness Vehicles To Cover All 38 Districts
Special awareness vehicles have been flagged off for all 38 districts of Bihar.
The vehicles will travel through rural and urban areas to inform people about the campaign, the importance of regular health screening and the early signs of cancer and other non-communicable diseases.
The awareness drive will also encourage people to seek timely screening and medical care.
Health Services Beyond Hospitals
The campaign has been launched jointly by the Health Department and the State Health Society, Bihar.
Its stated objective is to expand access to health screening by taking services directly to communities rather than limiting them to hospitals and health centres.
The launch programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Health Minister Nishant Kumar, senior health department officials and representatives of the State Health Society.
