Patna: The monsoon has intensified across Bihar, with the India Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for 35 districts and an orange alert for three districts as heavy rains battered large parts of the state, disrupting daily life and rail services.
Patna recorded overnight showers, with cloudy skies and reduced visibility persisting into Saturday morning. Shivhar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Supaul, Katihar, Rohtas, Raxaul, Gopalganj and Samastipur were among the districts reporting intermittent rainfall.

Saran district has been hit by torrential downpours since Friday night, leaving roads waterlogged and homes inundated. Train services were disrupted for four hours on the Chhapra–Siwan railway line after a tree fell on the main track near Ekma station.
In Rohtas, several low-lying areas of Tiloth were submerged, and 15 houses collapsed in Maharaj Dalit Basti near Bank Colony More. In Gopalganj, flooded streets forced residents to wade through knee-deep water.

Officials warned that the downpour could continue until October 7, with thunderstorms likely next week. The weather office urged residents to move to higher ground in case of flooding, avoid exposed electrical wires, and stay clear of open fields and tall trees during lightning strikes.
