Patna: The Indian Railways is preparing to upgrade seven of the busiest special trains running from Bihar to major cities into Amrit Bharat Expresses. This change will be seen in all divisions of the East Central Railway, including Danapur, Samastipur, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. The trains will have new rakes with modern amenities, providing passengers with a more comfortable journey. These upgrades are expected to benefit travelers between Patna and cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, offering a better travel experience without increasing ticket prices for ordinary passengers.
The focus of this initiative is on non-AC trains, which are used by a large number of budget-conscious travelers. By improving seating, adding modern facilities, and making travel more organized, the Railways aims to make journeys smoother and more comfortable. Passengers will also find it easier to travel during peak seasons, including festivals, when overcrowding and ticket problems are common. The move is part of a larger effort to modernize India’s railway services while keeping them affordable for ordinary travelers.
Railway authorities have invited proposals from several divisions, including Danapur, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Samastipur, and Dhanbad, to identify the most crowded trains that can be upgraded. A list of seven high-demand trains is being prepared, covering important routes like Patna to Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The goal is to provide more convenient and organized travel for long-distance passengers, ensuring that even busy routes are easier to manage and more comfortable for travelers.
Officials from the concerned zones are currently coordinating the operation of these trains, especially the Mumbai-Patna Amrit Bharat Express. Once the proposed timetable receives approval from the Railway Board, the official dates for the launch of these trains will be announced. Some services are expected to start in the first half of March, ahead of Holi, to help migrant passengers return home without facing overcrowding or ticket problems. This step is seen as an important improvement in both comfort and convenience for travelers in Bihar.
