Patna: Bihar’s Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department conducted 121,199 raids against illicit liquor between July 1 and July 31, resulting in 11,586 cases and more than 13,000 arrests, according to department data.
The statewide campaign was carried out in coordination with the police as part of the enforcement of Bihar’s total prohibition policy.
Nearly 6.94 Lakh Litres Of Liquor Seized
Authorities seized 694,355 litres of liquor during the raids, including country-made liquor and Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
The enforcement drive also led to the confiscation of more than 1,000 vehicles allegedly linked to the illicit liquor trade.
The seized vehicles included 809 two-wheelers, along with three-wheelers, four-wheelers and trucks.
Surveillance Intensified
The department said enforcement efforts are being strengthened to prevent the manufacture, sale, transportation and storage of illicit liquor.
Officials have placed emphasis on responding promptly to complaints, conducting regular raids and maintaining continuous surveillance of areas suspected of involvement in the illegal liquor trade.
Drones are being used to monitor remote and difficult-to-access areas, while motorboats are being deployed to keep waterways under surveillance.
The department said coordinated action with the police will continue as part of efforts to enforce the state’s prohibition policy.
