Patna: Bihar government has begun the process of disbursing financial assistance to unmarried female students who passed the Intermediate examination in 2026 under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana. Education Department has released Rs 700 crore for the scheme, enabling eligible beneficiaries to receive the incentive.
Under the scheme, each eligible unmarried female student will receive Rs 25,000. The financial assistance is intended to encourage girls to continue higher education and reduce financial barriers to further studies.
Rs 25,000 Incentive for Eligible Students
Education Department said the incentive will be provided to unmarried female students who successfully passed the Intermediate examination in 2026 and meet the eligibility criteria prescribed under the scheme.
The amount will be transferred to eligible beneficiaries as part of the state’s initiative to support girls pursuing higher education.
More Than 5.65 Lakh Students to Benefit
According to the Education Department, a total of 5,65,675 female students passed the Intermediate examination in 2026. Eligible students from this group will receive financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana.
The release of Rs 700 crore is expected to facilitate the timely distribution of incentives to beneficiaries across Bihar.
Scheme Aims to Promote Higher Education for Girls
The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana is one of the Bihar government’s flagship programmes focused on improving girls’ access to higher education and supporting their financial independence.
Through direct financial assistance, the scheme seeks to encourage female students to continue their academic journey and strengthen educational participation among young women in the state.
