Patna: The government of Bihar has introduced a new digital monitoring system for IPS officers, aiming to improve transparency, accountability and performance evaluation.
Under the new system, officers will be monitored through the IGOT Karmayogi Portal, following directives from the central government. Training and assessment on the platform have now been made mandatory.
Officials said every IPS officer will be required to complete specific courses based on their service period and regularly update their profiles online. The digital records will include service details, cadre information, training status and job performance.
The move is expected to play a key role in decisions related to central deputation, special postings and promotions. Performance records and course completion will now directly impact an officer’s Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR).
Authorities said officers who fail to complete courses or update their profiles on time may face negative evaluation impacts, increasing pressure to maintain consistent performance.
The new system will allow the government to access real-time information about officers, making it easier to assign responsibilities based on capability and track overall efficiency.
Officials believe the shift from paper-based evaluation to a digital system will reduce irregularities and ensure fair assessment. It will also encourage timely training and professional development among officers.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise governance and strengthen administrative efficiency through technology-driven systems.
