Patna: Tensions erupted in Patna on Monday as the Jan Suraj party released its second list of 66 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, prompting protests from party leaders who claimed they had been ignored despite years of loyal service.
At a press conference, Gulam Haider, who had hoped to contest from the Balrampur Assembly seat, openly criticised the party for nominating Asab Alam instead. “I risked my life for the party, and now they have denied me a ticket. Jan Suraj has sold tickets to undeserving candidates who don’t even know how to write their own names. Our groundwork in Seemanchal is now under threat,” Haider said.
Similarly, Purushottam, aspiring candidate from Bakhtiyarpur, joined the protests, accusing the party of disregarding workers who had campaigned tirelessly. “We faced bullets, mobilised voters, and confronted opposition forces for the party. Yet the ticket went to someone who never contributed. Jan Suraj has betrayed its hardworking members,” he asserted.
The unrest escalated to the point that Prashant Kishor, the party strategist, had to be escorted out of the press conference by security personnel. Journalists noted a visibly tense atmosphere as protests continued and questions went unanswered.
