Chhapra/Patna: The RJD’s high-profile candidate for Chhapra, Khesari Lal Yadav, began his political journey today by paying tribute to the veteran socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan (JP), the architect of the Total Revolution. By launching his campaign from JP’s birthplace in Sitabdiara, Khesari Lal sent a clear signal of aligning his electoral bid with the region’s strong socialist and reformist legacy.
Turning the ‘Jungle Raj’ Jibe Back on Rivals
Addressing the media, Khesari Lal Yadav took direct aim at his political opponents—presumed to be the ruling alliance—who frequently use the term “Jungle Raj” to attack the RJD. The singer-actor turned the narrative on its head, demanding accountability from those who governed the state for a significant period.
“If there was jungle raj, what paradise did you create?” Khesari Lal asked pointedly. “Those who constantly chant ‘jungle raj, jungle raj,’ have they turned Bihar into a paradise in 15 years? Those who say this haven’t done anything for Bihar either.”
He acknowledged that “jungle raj existed for a short while,” but insisted that the current leadership must justify its own track record.
Questioning Health and Education Failures
Khesari Lal Yadav focused his criticism sharply on the state of Bihar’s infrastructure, particularly in health and education. He accused the opponents of failing to create basic necessities for the state’s residents.
“When you fall ill, you go to Delhi AIIMS and other renowned hospitals there for treatment, but where will the people of Bihar go? You haven’t even built a proper hospital for them,” he stated.
He extended the criticism to the education sector, challenging the leaders, “Your children also go abroad for education, why couldn’t you build schools and colleges for them in Bihar?”
Concluding his address, the candidate struck a humble and local chord, stating, “I was a son of Chhapra. I don’t want to become an MLA and want to remain a son for life. I have won. Chhapra has many problems, I will work to solve them.”
