Patna : The Labour Resources Department of the Bihar government has been awarded a 5-star energy efficiency rating by the Government of India for its Planning Building located in Patna. The certification, granted under the “More Stars – More Savings” framework for composite climate zones, marks a significant recognition of the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

With an energy load of just 1000 KVA, the building has demonstrated exemplary performance in reducing power consumption while maintaining operational efficiency. Officials say the accolade reflects both technological upgrades and the collective efforts of staff across all levels.

To mark the achievement, Labour Department Secretary Deepak Anand convened a special meeting and urged employees to adopt energy-saving habits beyond the workplace. “This recognition should not remain limited to office walls—it’s a call to embed energy responsibility in our daily lives,” Anand said, emphasizing the department’s vision of expanding green practices across all its offices in the state.

The department’s initiatives include the adoption of energy-efficient equipment, solar power integration, water conservation measures, and a focus on maximizing output with minimal resource use. Officials say these efforts are aligned with Bihar’s broader goals of environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and fiscal discipline.

“This 5-star rating is not just a departmental achievement,” Anand added, “it’s a model for other government institutions to follow as Bihar advances toward sustainable and balanced development.”
