Patna: The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) on Monday launched a new bus service for Bihar Assembly staff aimed at strengthening public transport infrastructure within the state capital and reducing dependence on petrol and diesel.

The Bihar Legislature Secretariat Bus Service, introduced as part of the expansion of the existing Secretariat Bus Service, was inaugurated by Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, who flagged off the buses during a formal ceremony.

Among those present at the event were Atul Kumar Verma, administrator, Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) and Subhash Narayan of BSRTC.

Push for Public Transport Amid Energy Concerns

Addressing the gathering, Speaker Prem Kumar said promoting public transport had become essential in view of prevailing global conditions and concerns over energy consumption.

He said the initiative aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce petrol and diesel usage and encourage greater use of public transport systems.

Under the new arrangement, Pink and Green buses have begun operating for the daily commute of officials and employees working at the Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

Officials said the initiative was expected to help Assembly employees contribute towards reducing fuel consumption while easing daily travel.

BSRTC Expands Existing Secretariat Service

BSRTC Administrator Atul Kumar Verma stated that BSRTC had already been operating 25 buses under the Secretariat Bus Service scheme.

He said the new Legislature Secretariat Bus Service had now been expanded with the addition of five more buses to provide more convenient transport facilities for employees and commuters.

According to officials, the expanded fleet includes:

  • Electric buses
  • CNG buses
  • Pink buses
