Patna: The Bihar government has granted administrative approval for a major road widening project in Madhubani district, aimed at improving transport infrastructure and connectivity in the region. The plan involves expanding the Rajnagar–Motipur–Khaira road, which stretches for around 12.5 kilometres.
Officials said the project will cost approximately Rs 73.37 crore and will focus on strengthening and widening the existing road. Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to enhance the quality of travel and make transportation safer for commuters.
Local authorities believe the widened road will make travel easier, faster and more secure for residents. Improved connectivity is also expected to benefit key sectors such as education, trade and healthcare by reducing travel time and improving access to nearby towns and services.
The project forms part of a broader effort by the Bihar government to strengthen road connectivity across rural and urban areas. Under its infrastructure development push, the state’s road construction department has been working with the motto of improving transport networks so that people in remote areas can reach cities without difficulty.
Similar infrastructure initiatives are being planned in other districts as well. In Bhagalpur, for instance, authorities are considering the construction of a four-lane road through the city. The proposed route will run from Lohiya Pul to the Aliganj bypass and span around 4 kilometres, with an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore. Officials say the project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility for residents.
