Muzaffarpur : A man has been arrested in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, for allegedly subjecting his wife to brutal physical torture after accusing her of infidelity. The incident occurred in a village in the Deoriakothi area, where the woman was reportedly tied up by her husband, who then applied chilli powder to her private parts and burned her thighs and genital area using a heated iron rod.
According to the woman’s statement to police, the assault took place on June 13. She was held captive in the house for two days without food or medical attention. Her cries went unanswered by neighbours, who reportedly feared confrontation. It was only when her maternal family was informed on June 15 that her brother arrived and rushed her to Paru Primary Health Centre. From there, she was referred to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
The woman has filed an FIR at Deoria police station against her husband, Shatrughan Rai, and several members of his family, alleging they supported and encouraged the violence. The accused has since been arrested and taken into police custody.
Police officials confirmed the woman had suffered severe injuries and said legal proceedings were underway. The couple has three children, and the husband reportedly operates a small cosmetics shop in the village.
