Patna: Bihar is set to roll out a comprehensive land measurement campaign from January 26, aiming to streamline land records and resolve pending disputes, officials have announced. The initiative, led by Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, will run until March 31 and introduces a new system for land measurement across the state.
Under the updated system, applicants seeking online land measurement will now be required to indicate whether their land is disputed. Disputed cases will be reviewed by the Circle Officer, who will clarify the nature of the dispute. The date of measurement and assignment of a surveyor will be completed within three days of submission. Notices will be sent to all boundary holders, with disputed plots measured within 11 days and undisputed plots within seven.
A mandatory online upload of the measurement report will accompany all cases. The standardised report includes details of the applicant, the land, a sketch map, information on landowners and boundary holders, and surveyor remarks. Reports must be uploaded to the official portal within 14 days, with notices issued via registered post and SMS alerts sent to applicants’ mobile numbers.
Applicants will be required to pay a fee of Rs 500 per rural plot and Rs 1,000 per urban plot, with urgent cases attracting double the amount.
The campaign seeks to expedite pending land measurement applications submitted before December 31, 2025. Special survey officers will be deployed, with the Collector of each district acting as the controlling officer and able to request additional personnel as required.
Sinha described the initiative as part of the state government’s Seven Resolutions-3 policy, promising faster service and the elimination of long delays in land measurement.
