Patna: The Bihar Building Construction Department has directed officials to complete several major infrastructure projects within the prescribed timelines following a review meeting chaired by Department Secretary Pranav Kumar on July 14.

The meeting assessed the physical progress of key projects, including the Bihar Animal Sciences University, Rajgir Sports Complex, APJ Abdul Kalam Science City, Bihar Engineering University and the Jivika Headquarters building. Officials also reviewed bottlenecks affecting implementation and discussed measures to expedite construction.

Secretary Stresses Timely Completion

Chairing the review at Vishvesvaraya Bhawan, Kumar instructed engineers and executing agencies to complete all ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe without compromising construction quality.

He also directed officials to conduct regular reviews to monitor progress and address implementation challenges.

Rajgir Cricket Stadium Construction Progress Reviewed

The department reviewed work on the cricket stadium at the Rajgir Sports Complex, where construction of three spectator stands is underway.

Officials informed the meeting that work on the General Stand West has reached an advanced stage and is expected to be completed soon. Construction of the General Stand East and the Reverse Pavilion is also progressing. Work on two indoor halls and the velodrome at the sports complex is continuing simultaneously.

The Secretary instructed the executing agency to prioritise completion of the remaining stadium works.

Five Buildings at Bihar Animal Sciences University Expected by August

According to officials, five buildings at Bihar Animal Sciences University, including the administrative building and guest house, are in the final stages of construction and are expected to be completed in August.

The department noted that 13 modern buildings, including the Dairy Engineering Building, have already been inaugurated at the university.

Bihar Engineering University Nears Completion

Construction of the Bihar Engineering University campus, spread over nearly five acres, is almost complete, officials said.

Some finishing and essential works are currently being carried out before the project is completed.

Progress Reviewed on Science City and Other Projects

The meeting also reviewed ongoing work under the second phase of APJ Abdul Kalam Science City.

Officials said drawings for exhibition installations in the Sustainable Planet, Astronomy and Space, and Body and Mind galleries are under preparation.

Progress was also reviewed on the Agriculture Engineering College in Ara, where the guest house, boys’ hostel and girls’ hostel are nearing completion.

Jivika Headquarters and Joint Government Building

The department informed the meeting that the proposed Jivika Headquarters will be constructed on a 0.92-acre site in Patna and will comprise a ground-plus-seven-storey building.

Officials also reported that the Joint Government Building under construction in Patna has reached an advanced stage. The Secretary directed that the remaining work be completed at the earliest.

Warning Over Delayed Projects

Expressing concern over delays in some projects, Kumar instructed engineers to accelerate construction and ensure strict adherence to deadlines.

He said the department would not compromise on either construction quality or project timelines and directed officials to maintain close supervision throughout the execution of all works.
