Muzaffarpur/Patna: BR Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) has reported a significant improvement in its research performance, with newly updated academic data indicating a sharp rise in the global impact of its scholarly publications following a series of institutional reforms.
According to the university, its research ecosystem has undergone a structural transformation since 2024, driven by policy changes aimed at strengthening research quality, improving academic standards and encouraging publication in internationally indexed journals.
Research Citations Reach Record High
Official publication and citation data from the university’s consolidated Scopus profile indicate that BRABU has recorded its highest-ever research impact in 2025.
While the university’s annual publication output remained relatively stable at 65 to 85 research papers, citation figures have risen sharply in recent years.
According to the data:
- Annual citations crossed 900 in 2023.
- Citations increased to around 1,600 in 2024.
- The updated 2025 database records more than 2,000 citations, marking the university’s highest citation count to date.
University officials said the trend suggests that BRABU’s recent research is increasingly being cited in international scientific literature.
Vice-Chancellor Highlights Research Quality
Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Chandra Rai said the university’s focus has been on improving the quality rather than merely increasing the volume of research.
He said BRABU has standardised research protocols, strengthened thesis evaluation mechanisms and encouraged publication in indexed journals to build a sustainable academic culture.
The Vice-Chancellor added that the university now plans to place greater emphasis on patents, innovation and startup incubation, with the objective of translating research into practical societal applications.
Reforms Linked To Academic Growth
Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Navedul Haque, attributed the university’s recent academic progress to reforms introduced under the current administration.
He said the Vice-Chancellor’s emphasis on research publication and mentoring of young faculty members and scholars had contributed to strengthening research culture across departments.
According to Haque, systematic quality assurance measures have encouraged greater academic engagement and improved research output.
Academicians Congratulate University
Following the publication of the latest citation data, several senior academicians and alumni congratulated the university on its academic progress.
Among those who extended their congratulations were B.S. Rai, Kanupriya, Rajeev Kumar, Shartendu Shekhar and Navin Kumar.
University officials said they expect the recent gains to strengthen BRABU’s academic standing while supporting future research, innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
