Patna: A complaint has been registered at the Patna Cyber Police Station following allegations by Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Minister Ashok Choudhary regarding alleged unauthorised access to his official X (formerly Twitter) account and a demand for money linked to its handover.
The complaint, filed on official letterhead, has prompted a formal investigation by cyber police authorities.
Complaint Filed at Cyber Police Station
Officials at the Patna Cyber Police Station confirmed that a written complaint has been received and registered.
Cyber DSP Nitish Chandra Dharia said the complaint alleges that the former personal assistant is changing passwords and other credentials associated with the minister’s X account and is seeking money in exchange for restoring access.
Police have begun examining digital evidence and account access details as part of the inquiry.
Allegations Over Account Control
According to the minister’s office, the dispute centres around continued access to the official social media account even after the end of employment. The complaint states that repeated requests to return control were not complied with.
It further alleges that monetary demand was made in exchange for transferring access to the account, prompting the cyber FIR.
Former PA’s Response
The former personal assistant, Nishant Ketu Jha, has denied the allegations.
He stated that the X account was created using his personal email ID and that he is being pressured to transfer access to that email. He maintained that he has not made any monetary demand and has not interfered with the account in recent years.
He added that any changes to account credentials can be made through formal platform procedures, but insisted that access to his personal email cannot be forcibly handed over.
Investigation Underway
Cyber officials have confirmed that the matter is under active investigation. Authorities are verifying ownership records, login credentials, and digital access history to determine control over the account.
Police said the inquiry will establish the authenticity of the allegations and whether any cyber offence has occurred under applicable provisions.
