Patna/Darbhanga: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a direct rail service between Jaipur and Darbhanga, offering a new transport link between Rajasthan and Bihar.
The decision follows long-standing demands from elected representatives and passenger groups, particularly from Mithilanchal, where the route has been seen as a priority for better connectivity.

Route and schedule to be finalised
Railway officials have been directed to complete the operational framework for the service within the next two months.
This includes finalising the route, timetable and coach allocation. Preparatory work has already begun, according to railway sources.
Demand raised by Jaipur MP
The proposal had recently been raised by Jaipur MP Manju Sharma, who met the railway minister and requested a direct daily train service between the two cities.
She cited the travel needs of Bihar-origin residents living in Jaipur, along with growing trade links between the two states.
The railway ministry has not yet announced the exact date for the launch of the service.
Improved connectivity for passengers
The new train is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Bihar and Rajasthan, particularly during festival seasons when demand for rail tickets rises significantly.
It is also likely to provide easier travel options for migrant workers, students and families commuting between the two states.
Trade bodies welcome decision
Business groups have welcomed the announcement, saying the service could improve movement of people and goods.
Sushil Jain, secretary of the divisional chamber of commerce, said the direct train had been a long-pending demand and would be particularly useful for people from Mithilanchal living and working in Rajasthan.
