Patna: A two-day Grand Mango Festival will be organised in Patna this weekend, bringing together around 100 varieties of mangoes, including the Japanese Miyazaki mango, which is expected to be one of the key attractions.
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Badhai Banquet Hall on Ashiana-Digha Road and is being organised by the Bihar Nurserymen Association.
Inauguration and Key Guests
The festival will be inaugurated on June 13 by Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. Senior IAS officer Anjani Kumar Singh will attend as guest of honour, according to organisers.
Rare Varieties on Display
Organisers said the festival will showcase more than 100 rare and premium mango varieties from India and abroad. These include Red Ivory, R2E2, Bari-4, Catimon, Sensation, Sindhu Seedless, Alphonso, Jardalu, Gulabkhas and Langra Maldah.
The Japanese Miyazaki mango, often described among the world’s most expensive varieties, will be available at Rs 3,000 per kg at the event. Reports from previous seasons had placed its market value significantly higher in limited circulation.
Tasting And Sales Facility
Bihar Nurserymen Association president AK Mani said visitors will be able to participate in a mango-tasting session during the festival. Mangoes and fruit-bearing saplings will also be available for purchase directly from farmers and nursery operators.
Green Shelter Nursery is managing arrangements for the event, while Green Ginger has been named as the food partner.
Farmer Outreach and Activities
A technical guidance and consultation centre will be set up on the premises to support farmers and young participants. Agricultural scientists and horticulture experts will provide guidance on mango cultivation, disease management and commercial farming practices.
Organisers have also planned a mango quiz and painting competition for children, encouraging family participation during the two-day event.
