Patna: Bihar’s Labor Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh flagged off 22 new electric vehicles at Niyojan Bhawan Complex in Patna. These vehicles, provided by Tata Technologies, are part of a collaborative effort to enhance training programs in government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state. The initiative aims to equip ITI students with cutting-edge skills in electric vehicle technology and other modern technical domains.
During the event, the minister emphasised that the Centres of Excellence (CoEs) established in ITIs aim to bridge the gap between industry demands and workforce skills. The upgraded ITIs will provide modular, industry-specific training programs to develop globally competitive, multi-skilled workers. The minister highlighted plans to improve ITI infrastructure, including buildings and equipment, and to offer specialised training aligned with the needs of industrial and service sectors.
Labour Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand detailed the collaboration with Tata Technologies, under which 149 ITIs in Bihar are being upgraded in two phases. This initiative includes the development of CoEs, advanced skill courses, and industry-focused training programs. The program is supported by 20 global industry partners, ensuring that the ITIs meet the advanced technological demands of students, employers, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The flagged-off vehicles will be used for training across ITIs in Bihar, including locations such as Digha, Jehanabad, Paliganj, Kalyanbigha, and others. These vehicles represent a significant step toward modernising technical education and creating employment opportunities in the state. Senior officials from the Labour Resources Department, including Secretary Deepak Anand and representatives from Tata Technologies, were present to mark this milestone in Bihar’s skill development journey.
